In addition to quirky, creative and fun vibes, the 5-star Standard Hotel in London also serves some of the best vegan breakfasts I’ve had in a hotel. Its artsy interior makes you feel like you’re in the 70’s and in the future at the same time.

I got to stay for four nights, but I could have stayed much longer. The perfect location, right across from St Pancras station where lots of metros and international trains come in, is just one of the reasons you will want stay here. The Standard Hotel is a boutique experience from start to end and every object seems to have been carefully selected to match the hotel’s quirky 70’s vibe. Rooms come in many different sizes, forms and prices. And although even the single rooms are not exactly cheap, the special experience is worth it if you can afford it. The rooms come equipped with everything you need and the higher levels have a great view over the city and King’s Cross. I especially loved the city views at night!

Vegan breakfast in London
Admitted, the number one reason for my enthusiasm was the incredible plant based hotel breakfast I got to enjoy every morning. All simple, yet delicious. The room comes with a daily ‘budget’ that you can spend à la carte in the cosy 'Double Standard' restaurant so they prepare your order fresh for you. There were many vegan options, so I got to try a different selection of dishes every morning.
By far my favourite were the gorgeous vegan pancakes (okay you got me, ordered them twice), but the coconut chia bircher, the porridge, cranberry-oats bowl and the vegan croissant were incredible too. Click here for the current menus of the Double Standard restaurant.
Rooftop and cocktails
In addition to the Double Standard restaurant, you can also head to The Rooftop for cocktails and incredible views, or treat yourself in the Decimo restaurant, where Michelin-starred chef Peter Sanchez-Iglesias runs the Spanish/Mexican inspired cuisine with lots of vegan options.
